Barbary Apes in the Cedar Forest – Azrou, Morocco

A Barbary ape in the Cedar Forest. Azrou, Morocco.

One of the many Barbary apes living in the cedar forest atop Azrou, Morocco.  The Barbary ape, or macaque, is a monkey that lives in North Africa and Gibraltar and can be found hanging out close to the road just south of Azrou.  The Barbrary apes were social (though I wouldn’t invite them home for dinner, let alone near your open car) and aside from one sitting on my windshield and smearing his butt all over the glass, they were as nice as one could hope for.
