My pal Sam Cohen, a firebrand civil rights attorney practicing in New York City, recently visited and sat for a portrait in my Alexandria, Virginia studio. The sitting was a real treat – we covered Michael Chabon, suburban living versus the excitement of living in a city, and the tale of my bar mitzvah outside of Katz’s Delicatessen.
Bryan, a new buddy of mine, recently stopped by for a “straight-ish” headshot to post on LinkedIn and – of course – we knocked out an extra portrait or two for good measure.
Sara recently came by my Alexandria, Virginia studio to sit for a portrait and to discuss art, punk rock, and the “excitement” of large family events held around the holidays – some familiar territory and a dash of new subject matter to laugh over.
I recently had the pleasure of making portraits of Matt and Boo, two hilarious and laid-back models from the DC metropolitan area. The couple visited my Alexandria, Virginia, studio for a quick portrait session fueled by heavy metal, dirty jokes, and insider-chat on the state of alternative models, an infamous model-meets-photographer website, and creepy guys with cameras. Fun!
After a recent portrait sitting with Jo, she paid me the one of the highest possible compliments – she asked me if I would photograph her and her daughter Ava and, to make it even cooler, she told me to approach it exactly as I please. Another dream sitter!
I recently collaborated with Carl Severson, head honcho at Good Fight Entertainment and an old friend of mine, on a series of portraits while visiting New Jersey. Carl saw some of my recent portraiture and suggested a collaboration to use for business purposes and, as an artist can only wish for, simply told me to do what I do. Fantastic, right?
Rosa, a friend of a friend (and now a friend-friend of mine), recently sat for a portrait in my Alexandria, Virginia, studio. Rosa was admittedly anxious about the process and wasn’t sure that she would be comfortable during the session. The result? She knocked it out!
